Turfgrass Types

® Transition-Blended Bluegrass Sod
Our custom blend of the best Kentucky Bluegrass varieties available, researched and proven to perform in the harsh extremes of our Midwest climate.  Grown under the same cultural practices that have upheld our quality standards for over 50 years.

  ® Premium Turf-Type Fescue Sod
Our blend of the most elite turf-type fescue varieties, selected for drought tolerance, heat tolerance, and disease resistance.  EV Elite is a true, consistent turf-type fescue sod, devoid of the clumpiness often found in lesser fescue/bluegrass blends.  Contains 10% Kentucky Bluegrass to enhance handling quality of the sod.

Meyer Z-52 Zoysia
The warm-season staple in Midwest lawns.  Thrives in full sun and high-traffic areas, with the ability to repair itself.  It is also the most sought after playing surface on golf course tees and fairways.  Sod and sprigs available.

Quickstand Bermuda
Quick-spreading bermuda grass that has become the top choice for Midwest athletic fields.  Durable and self-repairing, Quickstand has a medium-to-fine blade and can be maintained down to 1/2 inch.  Proven to survive winters in the transition zone.  Sod and sprigs available.

609 Buffalograss
Extremely drought-tolerant warm season grass native to the North American prairie.  Can be maintained in a lawn, but also provides an attractive ground cover for low maintenance areas that are difficult to mow or water.  We are exclusive growers of this grass for Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Eastern Kansas.

Types of Cut

Pallet:  Pallets consist of easy-to-handle slabs, perfect for do-it-yourself installation. Slabs are 20" x 40" each.  Pallets of cool season grasses contain 98 slabs, or 60 square yards (540 square ft.).  Zoysia and bermuda pallets contain 66 pieces, or 40 square yards (360 square ft.).  Buffalograss is cut in 18" x 24" slabs, with 50 square yards per pallet.

Big Roll: A continuous roll that can be installed with a tractor or skid-loader, greatly reducing the labor-intensity of installing sod.  Big rolls also result in a finished job with less seams.

We offer big rolls in either 42" or 48" width, split down the middle.  Can be handled as one roll, or cut onto split tubes so that you handle only 21" or 24" at a time.  The standard amount of sod per roll is 40 square yards, but we can custom-cut in 5 sq. yd. increments to fit smaller tractors.

Palletized Small Roll:  Now available from our Jefferson City location.  Small rolls are 18" x 72", and contain 1 square yard (9 square ft.) of sod.  Each pallet contains 60 rolls (60 square yards of sod).

Sprigs:  Available for Meyer Zoysia and Quickstand bermuda.  Our sprigs are clean, healthy, and durable because they are dug out of the ground, not cut off the top.  Each sprig contains the leaves, stolons, and roots of the plant.  We dig them fresh, directly into your truck.
